Pizza is one of the most demanding fast food in recent times. From restaurants to home delivery a hot sizzling pizza can be in your hands in less than 30 minutes. Teenagers are the most targeted population for the Pizza manufacturing companies.
But the question is how much safe it is ? On my investigations I find out several issues and I pointed out 10 of those major issues, which can’t be ignored in-terms of safety and good health.

Potassium Bromate:
It is banned in many European countries and even in some states of USA. It is carcinogenic in mice and rats. It is used to maintaining the elasticity of pizza. It is basically an oxidizing agent that bleaches the flour and chemically ages the flour. Due to it thin walled bubbles arises in the pizza bread.

Bleached Wheat Flour:
It is one of the main ingredients of Pizza but basically it is one of the most harm-full agent of a Pizza. Flour it’s self a beneficial food substance but during bleaching Alloxan, or C4 H2O4N2, is a product of the decomposition of uric acid which produces or added during the process makes flour unsuitable for our body. It helps in becoming diabetic. Alloxan spins up enormous amounts of free radicals in pancreatic beta cells, thus destroying them. So taking Pizza regularly can be an invitation to diabetes.
Calcium Propionate:
Basically a anti-fungal agent and it is added in Pizza bread to stop mold growth. But is highly allergic to our stomach and on regular use it creates ulceration and gastritis problems. In recent study it is found that use of calcium propionate causes behavioral change in children. It also creates headache in few individuals.
Calcium Sulfate:
It may cause sever to moderate effects on the body. It increases the calcium level in the blood. It causes kidney stones. Anorexia and abdominal pain are the other major issues. It causes gastritis and abnormal intestine movement. Those who are consuming pizza may develop irregular bowel syndrome.
Sodium Nitrate:
It is a harmful agent that is added in the Pizza (specially in chicken pizza). It is added to processed the meat and to preserve it. The most dangerous thing about this thing is that it increases the chances of type 1 diabetes. It is also found cancerous for humans. It causes abdominal discomfort like indigestion and gastritis. It also increases the cardiac beats and destroys the blood vessels. It is found harmful for our blood cells.
Sodium Phosphate:
It is very much harmful for our body and many cause sever to moderate side effects. Symptoms like nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea are very common complications. Bone or joint pain are also reported after the high dose of sodium phosphate. How far headache, dizziness, tired feeling along with muscle pain or weakness are commonly seen in high doses.
Sodium Erythorbate:
It is a synthetic version of vitamin C and highly used food additive but having plenty of side effects. It is used as preservative and to stop microbial growth. It also maintains the freshness of the products. If it is added in more amount than it can cause serious abnormality in your red blood cells. It also raises the chances of getting kidney stones. Other than this dizziness, weakness, body ache etc are general symptoms.
Sodium Metabisulfite:
It is another ingredient with many health hazards. It is found that Sodium Metabisulfite is a toxic substance. It may create reproductive toxicity. It hampers the development of body. It is somehow found carcinogenic. It hampers in immunity system and increases the chance of getting more serious infections.
Sodium Aluminum Phosphate:
It is another harmful agent found in Pizzas. First of all it is carcinogenic means it can can cause cancers. It causes irritation in human eyes, skin and lungs. Though it is acts as a antacid but its harm-full sides can’t be ignored.
Monosodium Glutamate:
It is a flavor enhancer and commonly used in different food items. But having some serious side effects. Headache, flushing, sweating are very common symptoms of it’s toxicity. Numbness, tingling or burning in the face, neck and other areas are reported in various occasions. Rapid, fluttering heartbeats (heart palpitations), chest pain is a major side effect. Nausea, vomiting and weakness are commonly seen after it’s toxicity.
Conclusion:
The list not yet finished and I just picked up the major health hazard ingredients from Pizza. There are few more such ingredients which are toxic in nature, harmful for us and our humankind. So I find out Pizza no more a safe as food for you and your family.
